We give as a response to God’s grace

To a significant degree, the ongoing ministry at St Barnabas relies on the offerings that members of the church make. So, at one level, we need people to give. But the main reason we want people to give is because it is one of the ways that we live out our identity as servants of Jesus.  In response to all that we have received in Christ, we want to use everything we have for the good of others and the glory of God. Giving our money to support the work of the gospel is one way of living that out.

Here are a few Bible verses on giving:

  • 1 Chronicles 29:14   But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this? Everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your hand.
  • 2 Corinthians 8:9   For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich.
  • 2 Corinthians 9:7   Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
  • Matthew 6:24   No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money.

The most useful way to give to St Barnabas is via regular electronic payment. That helps us with our budget. But one-off donations are also welcome.
